Thanks OldIronLvr for the info. I wondered why the kill switch couldn't reach the spark plug, now it reaches without problem.

Good news, I have found a date on the frame after removing the dirt and also got shocked by the spark plug while turning the flywheel.

It may be hard to see but it says JUL 06 1947

Looks like a nice find there RichK. I have a Cunningham EB engine i pulled out of a junkyard, tough little engines. Nice addition to the collection you got.

Interesting wondering if that date is like painted on or is it stamped into the metal?

Its painted on the metal, looking down from the top of the motor. Color of the stamp is white.

This was my dad's Cunningham. It's a model MA with an EA engine. He bought it in the early 70's and we used it regularly to mow the field behind our house. It runs great and usually starts on the first try.

Ed thats the million dollar question, I have searched a bit myself as mine needs one new guide. but haven't had any luck with the hunt. Im thinken might have to check with a shop that deals in smaller sickle mowers likes these of a different brand.

OldIronLvr wrote:Hello all just picked me up a 1950's ish Cunningham Walk Behind Sickle mower. Its goin to need some TLC for sure but definately a good canidate for a restore. Just noticed this moring that one of the tires has a whole in the side wall , thinken might be time for a rubber patch job on that one since it already has a tube in it.
